08h30-15h00: Net Zero and Regenerative Design

What does it mean for a building to be net zero or better still, net positive or regenerative? This world cafe style workshop will have a strong focus on systems thinking and integrative design, and is aimed at built environment professionals, particularly architects, engineers and sustainability practitioners.

This workshop, held at the GBCSAs offices in Cape Town, will cover aspects of reducing a buildings footprint to net zero or net positive. It will look at energy, carbon, water and waste, exploring regenerative design solutions and ways of design thinking. We will look at good examples and case studies of net zero and regenerative buildings, and try to disseminate design strategies for reducing these aspects to net zero or regenerative.

The format of the course will be a blend of presentation and World Cafe.

This course will likely become a part of the AP programme for the GBCSA’s net zero certification system currently under development.
